WhyBrilliant flips recruiting with Voice AI

Sending out dozens of applications and waiting in silence is a familiar frustration for most job seekers. Berlin-based HR tech startup WhyBrilliant wants to put an end to that. The company, launched in 2026, has just closed a €1 million pre-seed round, with Merantix Capital as its sole investor.
The idea is simple but bold: instead of candidates chasing companies, the platform turns the process around. Two AI agents do the heavy lifting. "Nova" analyzes more than one million open positions in Germany every day and searches for roles that genuinely match a candidate's skills, experience, and career goals. On the other side, "Atlas" works for employers, identifying and pre-qualifying relevant talent from the platform's database.
At the heart of the technology is voice AI. Co-founders Patrick Böert and Aleksander Heimrath believe that AI-powered conversations can capture far more than a resume ever could. The platform conducts in-depth dialogues with candidates and builds detailed skills and personality profiles from these conversations.
Even before its public launch, WhyBrilliant has already attracted more than 1,500 experienced tech professionals, including senior specialists, team leaders, and executives. For Merantix Capital co-founder Dr. Rasmus Rothe, this is an example of what he calls "Service-as-Software": platforms that do not just provide tools, but actually perform the work. The global HR market is estimated at around €380 billion.
