Berlin-based logistics startup NexDash has secured €2.5 million from EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and a body of the European Union. The investment is structured as a pre-Series A commitment that also secures EIT Urban Mobility's participation in the upcoming Series A round.
NexDash operates as what it calls a Neo-Carrier: it acquires established mid-sized trucking companies, converts their fleets to electric vehicles, and manages operations through its proprietary AI platform, NexOS. The company's first acquisition, March Transporte in Rheinbach (NRW), was completed shortly before this funding announcement. The fresh capital will now go toward accelerating fleet conversion and expanding into new European markets.
NexDash was founded by Michael Cassau, who previously built and led Grover, the Berlin tech-rental unicorn. "We welcome EIT Urban Mobility on board. Their investment fuels what we do best: electrifying freight — fleet by fleet, route by route, across Europe," said Cassau.
Johannes Kirschner, Investment Manager at EIT Urban Mobility, described NexDash as "a new generation of freight operators in Europe, combining technology and operations to accelerate electrification at scale." According to the company's press release, the partnership is designed to combine NexDash's operational model with EIT Urban Mobility's pan-European network to strengthen supply chain resilience and push zero-emission freight forward across the continent.
