Berlin-based startup Neptune has closed a $1.5 million seed round to roll out its AI-powered music education platform, with the United Arab Emirates as its first target market. The news comes via a press release from Silicon Allee, the venture lab at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, where Neptune was incubated.

So what does Neptune actually do? Think of it as a smart music teacher that fits inside a school's existing setup. The platform combines artificial intelligence, gamification, and structured feedback to guide students through lessons step by step, making music learning feel more like play than practice. Kids can track their progress, build confidence, and discover the joy of music, while teachers get intelligent tools to support them in the classroom.

That's a real problem Neptune is solving. Music education in many schools suffers from patchy quality, teacher shortages, high costs, and a lack of engaging digital tools. Neptune tackles all of these at once, blending music fundamentals with interactive, game-driven practice that keeps students motivated.

The funding round attracted US-based angel investors John Engle and Coşay Altuğ, alongside the technological partnership with Fraunhofer HHI, one of Europe's top applied research institutes. Dubai will serve as Neptune's launchpad, chosen for its dense private school market and strong appetite for edtech innovation. From there, the team plans to expand across the GCC and into the United States.
